Inside Sensei

Three study paths, one calm home.

Choose a language and the whole app follows. Search history, lists, learning progress, preferences, and widgets stay organized inside that profile.

HSK 1–6

Chinese

5,362 vocabulary entries with characters, pinyin, and pronunciation. The bundled sentence bank contains 10,928 examples covering 4,862 entries. English and Russian meaning coverage varies by word.

JMdict · JLPT N5–N1

Japanese

218,527 JMdict vocabulary entries and 2,135 kanji, with readings, meanings, examples, and linked compounds. JLPT N5–N1 browsing groups the kanji; unassigned vocabulary stays searchable without a guessed level.

KRDICT · TOPIK preparation

Korean

53,348 entries with Hangul, Hanja and spelling variants, meanings, and Korean examples. Browse KRDICT grades or a Hangul index. TOPIK I and II preparation groups use KRDICT grades as study recommendations, not official word-by-word exam levels.

Using Sensei Dictionary

A free dictionary. More ways to learn with Pro.

The everyday essentials are free

The launch plan keeps dictionary search, word details, Reference, Saved Words, color highlights, and hourly widgets free. Full backup export is also free, so you can always take your learning data with you.

One Pro Lifetime purchase

The planned lifetime upgrade unlocks custom groups and lists, personal notes, spaced repetition, statistics, and study reminders. It also adds backup restore and selected group or list import and export. No subscription is planned.

Offline lookup, local learning data

Dictionary search and reference use databases bundled with the app, and your learning data is stored on your device. No Sensei account is required. App Store purchases and restores need a connection, and the app includes crash and performance diagnostics.

Part of the ecosystem

Better together.

Sensei Dictionary is the language layer of the Squiddy ecosystem. Future SquidRead and SquidNote integrations can turn unfamiliar words from reading into vocabulary you can revisit and study.
